How to Use

Three Steps to Boards That Last

A well-fed cutting board can outlive the kitchen it lives in. Here is the routine we recommend.

1

Clean & Dry

Wash your board with mild soap and warm water, then let it dry completely. Never soak wood or run it through the dishwasher.

2

Oil First

Apply a generous coat of our Food Grade Mineral Oil and let it soak in overnight. This feeds the wood fibers deep down and prevents cracking.

3

Seal with Conditioner

Rub in a thin layer of Cutting Board Conditioner and buff with a soft cloth. The beeswax and carnauba blend locks in moisture and repels liquids.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Are your products safe for surfaces that touch food?
Yes. Our cutting board conditioner and mineral oil are made with food grade ingredients and are safe for cutting boards, butcher blocks, salad bowls, wooden utensils, and any surface that comes into direct contact with food.
How often should I oil my cutting board?
A good rule of thumb is once a month for boards you use regularly, or whenever the wood starts to look dry or pale. New boards benefit from several coats up front.
What is the difference between the mineral oil and the conditioner?
The mineral oil is 100% pure USP oil that soaks deep into the wood to hydrate it. The conditioner adds beeswax and carnauba wax to seal that moisture in and leave a protective finish on the surface. They work best as a pair: oil first, conditioner on top.
Can I use the orange oil polish on my cutting board?
The orange oil polish is designed for furniture, cabinets, tables, doors, and trim. For anything that touches food, stick with our food-safe conditioner and mineral oil.
Where are your products made?
Every Project Papa product is made in the USA, and our walnut trays are handcrafted and hand finished here as well.
